Paulinho da Viola

Paulinho da Viola - 1968
The masterful elegance of samba!
troubled In Brazil, 1968 Paulinho da Viola threw the 26-year-old his first solo album, the debut recording of Paulinho happened three years before on record, also released by Odeon, the show "Pink Gold" idealized and directed by Herminio Belo De Carvalho. Among the first record and the first solo album had 5 other albums were released in the same year 1968, ie the production of Paulinho in 1968 was intense.
As it could not be Paulinho always made clear its origin, its cradle and its musical heritage, a fact which clearly shines on the choice of repertoire of his debut, that his "stand on their own legs' musical.
composition that opens the volume, "Go Amigo" is signed by the master Angenor Mangueira de Oliveira - the honorable bamba better known as Cartola - the new song on disc so far received arrangement maestro Gaya.
Lindolpho Gaya divided the disk arrays with Maestro Nelson, being responsible for just three of the tracks on the album: "sweet poison" of Little Waltz, Carlos Lentine and Goulart, "Forbidden Love" also by Cartola and "The People Forget "own Paulinho. Of the 12 tracks on the volume only five are signed by Paulinho. This album is one of the most brilliant songs ever made by him: "Things in the World, I deny." This composition was in 6th place in the first biennial of samba (Junho/1968), who argued at the time Jair Rodrigues.
Other composers who appear in the register are: Candeia (drummer), Cone (Maria Sambamba), Elton Medeiros and Herminio Bello De Carvalho (Samba of Love), Cacaso (My Carnival) and Garcez, Nelson Silva and Monteiro (No Te Hurts Consciousness). I know it's hitting the same key to mention that the album is excellent, but the fact is, all tracks complement each other forming a perfect unity. How would a newly elected right candidate in St. Paul: "FantáááááRdigo!" lol.
As for me, not sure when I started to like Paulinho da Viola, I believe I was born gostanto are so many beautiful things he did and what dates do become mere detail without much function. His works are born with a most powerful and timeless identity, are the songs that we listen to arise in us proud to be Brazilian samba to be, to be in Brazil. He has a knack!
With this album I started here the saga Paulinhovioliana ", hope you enjoy, plus a debt being paid! rs. Wait for the next e. ..
Viva Paulinho da Viola!

WAS A RIVER THAT WENT INTO MY LIFE - 1970
I do not really remember when I started to like Paulinho da Viola, but I remember clearly what was the first album I bought it . And the interesting thing is that I got up this album after hearing the version of the Ambitious Lovers - duo, Peter Scherer and Arto Lindsay in the mid 80s - the "Not For You To counter", plates and found the music excellent right off the bat , as all I was curious to know whose behind and when it was. When I found out and heard the version of Paulinho then I had an overdose! It is one of the best and has thrown in the arrangement by Maestro Gaya, very good!
The song was part of the classic "A River That Was Spent In My Life" one of the most iconic albums of Paulinho and was launched in 1970. In 1969
Paulinho won the final V Festival MPB and the Record and on occasion has released a compact that besides the winning song - more subtle and shocking protest song - "Signal Closed" contained more than three compositions, two would be part the album to come, ie, the compact addition to disseminating the music of the festival also served as a preview of the LP to come. The LP and
composed of 11 tracks, four of the songs on the album became classics not only of the samba as the Brazilian music in general, such as: "My Sin" composed by Zé Ketti, "It was a river that passed in my life "" Everything is transformed "and" Swear With Tears "by Paulinho. Unlike the first album, Paulinho signs that the author of nine tracks, others are signing Mauro Duarte (Mourning) and the aforementioned Joe Ketti. On the CD edition was added two tracks that just came up cited in the compact "I dreamed Streets" and "Signal Closed."
The group that came Paulinho have nothing of information, the only information contained in the technical details of the volume is related to the musical direction of Lyrio Panicali and arrangements by Maestro Gaya. On the site says was attended by Maestro Nelsinho also already on the back cover of the album says nothing about it. Undoubtedly it is the guys that should be Portela around Paulinho now exact names Paulinho pro just wondering, lol.
A fact that I found curious and took back when I realized this album is that the famous introduction to "... Laiaaaaaaa, laiaaaaaa, laiaaa, waaaay ..." of "A River That Was Spent In My Life" does not exist in its original version, today it is virtually impossible sing this song without your intro, not research to know at what moment it emerges. Ok talk to you? So let us revel in the elegance of the sambas by Paulinho ...

"... I am on my samba, if you can stay / I'll go to the Portela even if you do not go ... I will not listen if you provoke me, but accepted a kiss if you want to give me if you want to give me ... "

Paulinho da Viola - 1971

We will again plunge into the work of one of the most brilliant musicians and composers of our rich folk songs: Paulinho Da Viola!
scion of the noblest lineage of samba and choro Paulinho Carioca from the suburbs as we saw earlier had his debut recording in 1965, to and fro the 'boy' took the feel of it - and presented us with many treasures along all these years - so much so that in 1971 released two excellent albums and then one after another.
The first theme of this posting, is comprised of 12 tracks and contains songs that later became big hits like "To See Girls" by Paulinho, "Philosophy of Samba" for Candeia and "My turn to smile" Nelson Sgt.
This is in my view the album more Paulinho modern both in terms of orchestration and flirtations with extra genera-samba. I was amazed to find this album can be considered as elements that unusual for a classical album of samba. Paulinho innovated and showed that he was not oblivious to what was happening around him.
Two major examples are the compositions "In Short Samba" and "Consuming is Living".
In "Samba In short," the opening track of the volume, we find elements of what would later be coined as drum'n'bass, say that without knowing Paulinho is one of forerunners of breakbeat mix of samba (I'm trying to find out who is the drummer, because such information and there are no technical details on the LP). In "Consuming is Living" Marcus Vinicius have an introduction that soon falls into a funky vibe and samba-rock! That's right! Paulinho Neither managed to stay immune to swing genius of James Brown and Jorge Ben!
In terms of orchestration see for example the one used in "To See Girls," there have only: Guitar, Matchbox (masterfully played by Elton Medeiros) and Carnation! Until then there had been reports of Rangpur in the samba! The combination was perfect! Clavier was also used very well on other tracks throughout the LP.
Well, I believe that these elements are enough to arouse curiosity in you / want to hear it at least once and also know the unspoken!
Yeah ... and how would Candeia ...

Paulinho da Viola - 1971

second disc from the crop of 1971, has no boldness 'extra-samba' as the previous album, but I confess that my nigga makes no foul!.
71 was really a year for highly fertile Paulinho. As good as the previous album is also full of gems of sound. Originally, the volume consists of 12 tracks, but here I bring digital remastered version that features two bonus tracks released only on compact at the time.
On the album we have the genius: "Winning and Losing" which then opens the volume of "Sun and Stone", dedicated to Nelson Cavaquinho composition. The third track is a humorous chronicle of "Dona Santina and his Antenor," then we have "To love one in Recife" which according to information contained in the official website of Paulinho is a declaration of love dedicated to friend and mother almost Pernambuco Dede Aurelian. On the LP version contain the following two side A of the same: "Mal De Amor," a samba suingadíssimo of Espirito Santo Raul Sampaio originally recorded in 1961/62 and "After Life", and morbid poetic composition that reminds me of Nelson Cavaquinho a little script for one of the films of José Mojica, excellent!
The laboratory
B opens with the party "Moema Moreno, partnership and Elton Medeiros Paulinho who is also part of the recording, then we have" Sunglasses ", composed and performed by Orestes Barbosa Valzinho in 1948 and recorded in 1955 by Zeze Gonzaga this song was among the Billboard Hot 100 in the year that was recorded. Paulinho continuity with the album "Careful, Your Pride Te Mata," the then unknown to the general public, Walter tailoring - this record is attributed to the discovery of the composer. Another composer who gives the guys and helps with the songs of the album is portelense Monarch with "scarf" made in partnership with Santana and Francisco interpreted masterfully by Paulinho in a simple and ingenious arrangement.
Closing bolachão have "Hurry Has No Chance" partnership and Paulinho Capinan and "A Certain Day For 21", both excellent!
My LP has no technical details but the site found the names of the members of the team that held the kitchen and metals: Flute and Clarinet was in charge of the unmistakable Copinha trombone in charge of Norato Maurílio the piston, Dininho on bass, Marcal, Elton Medeiros and Elizabeth and Oscar in rhythm and Juquinha in batteries. Arrangements and conducting by Lindolfo Gaya. I heard rumors that Duprat have made some arrangements on this album, but I think they are just rumors right, because although some things sound a la Duprat 'nothing appears to confirm the fact. Regarding the two bonus tracks have nothing to say beyond that is very good! rs. that's it ...
"... My evil, evil is love, there is no medicine that can cure my pain ..."

DANCE OF SOLITUDE - 1972
Well my dear, I (as always) again apologizing for it, but anyway, here I am to continue the saga surrounding the musical work of genius Paulinho Da Viola.
What we have now is the 5th solo album Paulinho (will go to the 7th), launched in 1972 and carries in his heart gems sound some of which have become classics of popular songs like "Dance of Solitude", track that the title track, the party high "No Pagode Do Vava", "It happens," Cartola composition that won a costume 'abolerada' and 'false morality "Nelson Sargento, beyond those we have yet the hits kept Minha Viola "and" My World Is Today "composition also recorded by Wilson Batista Jorge Veiga. Li
a review where the critic put this as one of the best albums of Paulinho, despite being composed of several hits not enough for me to get on the list of the best, is a good album but I'm here, lol. In fact sometimes it bores me a little. But anyway it is worth knowing. I think that's not very inspired today to know? Then just an hour, lol.
Ah! The link from youtube which I leave down there is worth being seen, be sure to watch it.
That's it! Vamo vamo that! Uhullll!
